Elizabeth Schumann will combine a live piano performance with projection for her piece "Quantified Musician”. This piece will combine an exquisite solo Chopin recital with a set of projections that correspond to music’s measurable quantities, such as notes played. This juxtaposition illustrates the absurdity of our desire to quantify and define the arts. On one side of the stage, the artist will be play the piano alongside her “vital statistics” (height, weight, age, cost of years of study). In the center of the stage, a running count of notes will be tallied under each key as part of enormous live projection.
